Meet the Author
Kevin Pease
Kevin first discovered the awesome power of storytelling when he was cast as the pickle in his elementary school play, The Sandwich. Hehas devoted his life to finding and telling stories, his own and other people’s, ever since.
Born and raised in Michigan, Kevin fell in love with singing and acting at an early age. He holds degrees from Northwestern University in vocal performance and music education with minors in children’s theatre, musical theatre, and creative dramatics.
Kevin’s career as a performing artist spans four decades. He’s worked on stages from Miami to Montreal and all points between. He’s been a singer on a cruise ship in the Mediterranean, once hosted a beauty pageant (the ubiquitous Miss Michigan Potato Pageant), and has worked as a director in New York City, Edinburgh, Scotland and Honolulu, Hawaii.
Kevin has a similarly diverse background as an educator; as a researcher, a teaching artist, a curriculum coordinator, a classroom teacher, an administrator and a consultant. He’s worked in every type of school imaginable: Title 1 Public schools across New York City, parochial schools in Austin Texas, a public charter school in the South Bronx, and a private K-12 school in Honolulu. He loves working with students of all ages and has from pre-K through post-doc, from toddlers to senior citizens. Kevin was a guest lecturer at New York City’s Hunter College and an adjunct professor at NYU’s Steinhardt School of Education where he shared his passion for arts education with the next generation of teachers.
Writing has been an equally important creative outlet for Kevin and when he’s not hunting for the next great narrative, he devotes his time to inspiring others to use storytelling as a superpower, in service of changing the world for the better.
Kevin lives in the Windy City with his favorite human Dr. Zachary and their cat Charlie. Oh, and he loves pickles.
